On December 2^nd, the Academic Council of the Fundamental Sciences Scientific and Educational Complex held a ceremonial assembly to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Complex, which is the largest subdivision of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

   Almost two centuries ago, in the 1830s, the Moscow Craft School (eventually to be known as BMSTU) was already teaching mathematics, physics and other exact sciences to its students. 1933 marked the year when the General Technical Faculty was established, aiming to provide comprehensive STEM training to students of every BMSTU department. This subdivision had existed until 1938, while it was not until 1964 that the order of the Rector, Professor Leonid Pavlovich Lazarev, re-established the General Technical Faculty in the then-MHTS (Moscow Higher Technical School). This date is considered to be the beginning of the history of the Fundamental Sciences Complex.

Mikhail Gordin, current Rector of BMSTU, addressed the assembly by stating, "Every student of our university passes through your hands. It is you who provide them with the basis for their subsequent education, the basis that is a crucial component of engineering training. "

   Vladimir Gladyshev, the Head of the Complex, spoke about its history and its present. Vladimir Olegovich listed a veritable constellation of outstanding scientists who used to teach fundamental sciences at BMSTU at various times. A notable example of them would be Nikolai Yegorovich Zhukovsky, who founded the Department of Theoretical Mechanics (known as FN3 these days) in 1878 and headed it for 43 years.

   Today, the Complex consists of two faculties: the Fundamental Sciences ("FN") faculty with its eight departments and the Linguistics faculty, consisting of five departments. All departments of the FN Faculty provide degrees to their students. The Complex proper boasts 841 employees, including 84 professors.

   During a grand ceremony, Mikhail Gordin, the Rector of the university, presented letters of commendation to a considerable number of teachers and employees working for the Complex.

   The Complex received numerous accolades from notable figures such as Anatoly Aleksandrov, President of BMSTU; Boris Padalkin, First Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs; Pavel Drogovoz, Vice-Rector for Science and Digital Development; Alexander Kolesnikov, Head of the 'Mechanical Engineering Technologies' Scientific and Educational Complex; Rostislav Simonyants, Dean of the Aerospace Faculty; Alexey Mironov, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Education of the Faculty of Physical Education and Health; Valery Baltyan, Director of the Interdisciplinary Education and Research Center for Technological Development and Eurasian Integration; Valery Meshalkin, Head of the Department of Logistics and Economic Informatics of the Dmitry Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia; Lyudmila Shustrova, Chairperson of the International Union of Book Lovers and Director of the Ex-libris Museum. Congratulations were also offered by Boris Nazarenko, honorary veteran of the subdivision, former Head of the Fundamental Sciences Faculty and Complex (1990 to 2012). Boris Petrovich is a laureate of the Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of education, and one of the authors of the "Course of Theoretical Mechanics" textbook and the "Movement on the Soils of the Moon and Planets" monograph. He was among the activists behind naming the FN3 Department after Professor N.Ye. Zhukovsky. 

   The assembly concluded with a gala concert of student bands and soloists.
